judge

molecules speed up
blood rushes through our veins
a composition of flesh and guts
slapped together in skin
topped off with dead cells
that become the source of judgment
enticing us to look for differences
yet the flesh and guts
are no different in you or I

race becomes another factor
a false construct that provides
conflicts and creates hate,
the thought of common ancestry
seems to have been abandoned
our genetic makeup is the same
from the mitochondria to
our fingertips
yet we kill because one is black
and the other is white

is it human nature to judge,
or just something programmed
into our brains based on human behavior?
