Now fast forward to today, as I take that last final. Two the problems are exact copies of what I had just done for the project and I manage to pull out an 80% before the curve. What a way to finish what must be the most bullshit and random quarter ever at Cal Poly. DAMN it feels good to have a week off, and the first time in a long time that I have no school and work for a long stretch. Four quarters left.

a bizarre end
It was around half past ten in the morning, and what was supposed to be a day off before my last final became suddenly busy because of project saved to the last day. So I went off to school, and for the first time in a long time I wasn't carpooling. It felt a bit weird. I get to school, blast through some bullshit, do half the work myself, feel accomplished and begin to leave the library and go straight to my car. On this path of glory, as the sun hits my forehead and I sweat uncontrollably, my phone buzzes. Another goddamn stupid email, or so I thought. I open it up, and out of my luck it's an email by my professor explaining a scholarship opportunity. I quickly divert from my route and go straight to a computer lab, open my email and print out the application. The professor is trying really hard to get people to apply, but he saved it till 3 days before the application was due. I fill out as much as I could, then speak with the professor. He says it's "easy money" and tells me I also need an official transcript. Those things take weeks for the under-staffed records office to make! But my professor has it all covered, and just tells me to mention the scholarship to get it by Friday. So I get all that stuff done and am just ecstatic that procrastination somehow rewarded me by keeping me at school at the right time to get most of that scholarship business done. I hit the road jamming to Deftones, trying to beat rush-hour as now I can't benefit from the carpool lane. Right as I get on the 210, I notice some cars ahead of me slam on their brakes, and then I realize there are big blue plastic drums all over the freeway, bouncing in every direction. I dodge one to my left, and I can't but imagine what that first car felt as the drums fell off the truck and headed their way. Just a weird damn day. I guess it brought me back to earth and kept me focused on getting my shit done.
